Job Opening! Become our next Program Manager
North Kent Connect seeks a program manager (full-time) to facilitate the achievement of client wellness and autonomy through education, program development, service facilitation, assessment and advocacy. Based on the needs of the client population, the program manager coordinates and/or facilitates classes and volunteer opportunities for client growth and empowerment. The program manager will also work with the case manager to link clients with appropriate providers and resources throughout the community.

2018 "Tree of Hope" Campaign (through Dec. 10)
MOST NEEDED: Sheets, Blankets, Toys & Adult Size L, XL, XXL Clothes
PLUS... Pajamas, Sweatpants & Sweatshirts, Winter Coats & Boots, Snow Pants, Crib Sheet Sets, Twin/Double/Queen Sheets & Blankets, Pillows (Standard), Bath & Hand Towels, Toys
In order to give the gift of dignity to our clients, they will be able to purchase these items at a very low cost (only $1-$5 per item) at the NKC Christmas Store. Drop off new, unwrapped donations at North Kent Connect, Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the south side of the building. Please specify that donations are intended for the Christmas Store. Do not leave them if the donation area is unattended.
Please deliver donations by Mon., Dec. 10.
Holiday Food Drive underway
Our Holiday Food Drive is underway! With your help, we can provide healthy meals and household items for area families in need this holiday season.
☑ Pasta (1 lb. boxes)
☑ Rice Krispies
☑ Regular oatmeal
☑ Monetary donations for fresh food
☑ Laundry detergent
☑ Feminine hygiene products
☑ Bar soap
☑ Toilet paper
Both fresh and canned (low-sugar, low-sodium) fruits and veggies, gravy (no glass jars), pudding, stuffing and other holiday foods are also needed.
Drop off donations at North Kent Connect from Monday to Thursday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (Please take food to the north side of the building.) Donations are needed by November 12 for Thanksgiving distribution and by December 14 for Christmas distribution. THANK YOU!
FREE Yoga Classes Resume Tuesdays (New Day & Time)
We are partnering with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids to offer free yoga classes every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in our Gathering Room. Whether you’re new to yoga or have been practicing for years, this class will help you create a bit of inner peace as you build strength, balance and flexibility. No previous yoga experience necessary. Bring a mat, if you have one, and a bottle of water.
(Clients can earn up to $20 VIP per month for attending two classes.)

Did you know that North Kent Connect accepts clothing in any condition? The unusable clothing is sold for rags; proceeds are used to buy needed food items such as milk and eggs. The wire and metal are recycled. We are committed to keeping items out of the landfill. NKC is green! We accept donations through the front door Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Donations are accepted through the south door:
Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Friday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Sunday, no donations accepted

Healthy Food Policy
When you walk into The Market (formerly the Food Pantry) you won’t see shelves of macaroni and cheese, Pop-Tarts, Fruit Loops, and Ramen noodles. Instead you’ll see a counter of fresh produce and shelves of whole grain pasta, dried beans, and low-sugar cereals.
