North Kent Connect Offers Client Drive-up Food Service

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – UPDATED INFORMATION AS OF MONDAY, MARCH 23

NORTH KENT CONNECT OFFERS CLIENT DRIVE-UP FOOD SERVICE

All other services closed for the time being.

ROCKFORD, Mich., March 23, 2020 – To reduce the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) North Kent Connect (NKC) will be open for client food distribution only through April 6, 2020. Donations of food and household goods will not be accepted at this time, and the NKC Thrift Store and Farm Stand are closed as well.

“We know this is a difficult time for everyone, but particularly for clients struggling to keep food on the table,” said Claire Guisfredi, executive director at NKC. “As long as we are able to provide food in a safe manner, we will remain open for our clients.”

Starting Wednesday, March 25, NKC will allow clients to drive up to the building to receive their monthly Pantry items on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. through April 13.

Federal Commodities will be held at Rockford Reformed Church on Thursday, March 26, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In addition, all client classes offered at NKC are cancelled, as well as tax preparation services.

How you can help:

As we limit personal contact by closing our donation area and distributing pre-packaged boxes of food to our clients, we are asking our community to purchase a food box for $13.75 through our website, nkconnect.org. Each box will provide a family of four with five meals, and includes items such as canned and boxed foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and dairy items.
