In 2003, we opened our 16,000 square foot facility. About 8,000 square feet includes the food pantry, clothing area and office space; the other half is a warehouse used to store food and sort donations.

Our warehouse is regularly inspected by a safety professional and our staff is Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) trained. We also have a Building and Grounds committee, made up of construction professionals and civil engineers, which conducts facility assessments to ensure safety. 

We have two hilos, a baler, two commercial freezers, a commercial cooler, a box truck, and a cargo van. 

NKC Recycling Program

Did you know that North Kent Connect has a industrious recycling program?

We want your broken Christmas lights, metal (unusable frying pans, lamps, etc.), clean clothing and books. “The usable clothing is distributed to our clients in northern Kent County,” explains Claire Guisfredi, NKC Executive Director. “The unwearable items, metal, wire and paper are recycled. We use the money to purchase meat, eggs, cheese and whatever else is needed in our pantry. It’s a win-win!”
