Federal Commodities and Related Meal Assistance

The following is a list of available food programs for Clients, and/or the general public:

Market Pantry (Food Pantry)

The Pantry will be closed on Monday, Jan. 18, as we move to our new offices in the building. Please use the north side entrance starting Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Our FREE Market Pantry is open to NKC Clients on Mondays & Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

You must be a client of North Kent Connect to visit the Market Pantry. You can visit the Market Pantry once a month. You can also request referrals to our Partner Pantries. [MORE]

Partner Pantries

Additional partner pantries are available for food by calling us for a referral to one of our partner pantries. [MORE]

Farm Stand

The Farm Stand, located inside the North Kent Connect Thrift Store, features local produce at two price points – allowing ANYONE to purchase healthy food at affordable prices. [MORE]

Senior Food Programs

North Kent Connect offers a Senior Pantry pickup on on the third Thursday of each month, as well as Senior Commodities on the third Monday of each month, for qualified seniors. A number of North Kent Connect volunteers also help to distribute Senior Meals on Wheels throughout Rockford and Sparta. [MORE]

Federal Commodities

Quarterly federal commodities are available to anyone in Kent County. This is a drive-thru pickup, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please have your Michigan license or ID.

Kibble Konnection (Food for Pets)

This is a supplemental food program and may not fulfill all dietary needs for pets, but will provide some assistance with pet food for dogs and cats. An application must be completed and sent over to the Humane Society of West Michigan. If approved, participants can pick up food for up to two dogs or cats per household once per month. All pets in the household must be spayed or neutered in order to qualify. A driver’s license is needed when picking up pet food. See a Case Manager for an application.
