Karen Potter, a longtime supporter of North Kent Connect, pays tribute to her parents, Virgil and Louise Phelps, for instilling in her the responsibility to care for others in need. Their church, First Congregational Church of Rockford, also cultivated their desire to serve with open hearts.

Claire remembers the Phelps Family…

Virg and Louise were longtime financial supporters and volunteers of North Kent Connect. Louise, a skilled seamstress and knitter, would make beautiful doll clothes for our client-only Christmas Store. Her daughter, Lynn Anderson, a gifted artist, donated a stunning and peaceful dunes landscape that adorns the main hallway of our new wing.

Virg passed away in April 2022, exactly one month after the death of his wife, Louise. They were both 96 years old. Virg and Louise’s legacy will live on in their daughters and in the people they helped at “The Center.”
